Holiday plans on hold due to coronavirus? Plan a staycation
We may all be in lockdown at the moment but to brighten your day and offer some light relief from the news and coronavirus we’re sharing our top tips from planning your next staycation.
Staycations are a perfect way to enjoy the best parts of the UK by motorhome and caravan.
Please note that during the lockdown and this time of self-isolating and social distancing, we ask that you please follow government advice around when it will be safe to travel within the UK again.
In the meantime, happy researching online!
Plan an adventure and try new experiences
Is there an activity you’ve always wanted to try but never had time for?
A motorhome makes it easy to travel, in less time and you can take the whole family with you. Use your weekends to try new experiences and see new places.
Plan hikes, bike rides, find the UK’s best wild swimming spots or head to the beach and enjoy a seaside vacation.
Who will be going on holiday?
For a weekend away with the kids, choose a campsite near a city or in a seaside resort where there will be lots to do and plenty to see. Stay on a campsite where there will be other children they can play with.
If the grandparents are coming too, pack games and films to keep you all entertained whatever the weather forecast.
For a romantic getaway choose an isolated spot in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful scenery and will give you the peace and privacy you’re after.
Choosing your location
A motorhome gives you the freedom to roam.
You can choose to stay close to home – there may be some great places on your doorstep that you didn’t even know were there. Or you could travel further afield.
The UK is rich with historic and beautiful places for you to explore. For inspiration check out our list of top 9 trips to take in your motorhome.
Booking a campsite
Find a campsite that welcomes motorhomes. Research prices and check what facilities are available.
If you’re travelling with children and pets make sure the site is family-friendly and allows dogs
You may choose to stay on one or multiple campsites depending on how long your staycation will be. We’d recommend calling ahead and checking there’s a free pitch before you arrive, especially if you’re travelling during peak season.
Packing for your staycation
Clothes and food are the obvious essentials. Buy enough food for at least the first few days. This will give you a chance to get your bearings if you’re visiting somewhere you haven’t been before, and time to check out what shops are close by.
Pack board games and cards to for evening entertainment and a good book for you to enjoy now you have the time.
You should also pack the family bikes. If you buy a bike rack, they’ll attach easily to your motorhome. They’re great for exploring and ideal for children who tire easily on long walks.
We have a wide range of motor home accessories for you to choose from.
