The summer is finally upon us and we’re all desperate to pack our bags for sunnier pastures.

Before you head off in your motorhome, take a moment to grab your map and cast your eyes over some of the coastal hotspots that are ideal for camping out.

Whether you’re after a picturesque beach, a seaside campsite with modern amenities or a road trip along the coast, these five locations are the perfect destination for motorhome lovers.

1. Great Yarmouth Beach, Norfolk

The Great Yarmouth coastline stretches for 15 miles with sandy dunes, fun-filled amusements and a vibrant promenade. Separated into three sections, the town has a variety of attractions for holidaymakers of all stripes.

The southern area is perfect for families after a quiet weekend away, and the open spaces north of Britannia pier are ideal for dog walker. If you’re looking for something a bit livelier, the central beach is a great location.

Just 300 metres from the seafront, the Great Yarmouth Racecourse caravan and motorhome campsite is a wonderful location for sunbathers and strollers. The nearby racecourse and 18-hole golf course ensure you won’t have to look far for entertainment, with family-orientated activities such as the Sea Life centre just a stone’s throw away.

2. Brighton Beach, Sussex

One of the most iconic coastal locations in the country, Brighton boasts an authentic Victorian pier that buzzes with life during the summer. Motorhome enthusiasts seeking an exciting city break, rather than a tranquil getaway, will find plenty of things to do. The pier hosts snack bars and restaurants, funfair rides, arcade games and live shows.

There are plenty of motorhome-friendly campsites in stunning locations across the Sussex coast, and a couple within a short distance from Brighton. The Barn Caravan Park is a green, spacious site with excellent links to public transport and a number of beaches on your doorstep. It’s the only campsite between Brighton and Worthing, making it an ideal holiday base.

3. Penzance, Cornwall

Cornwall is famous across the world for its iconic beaches, breath-taking countryside and a deep maritime history. This renowned south-western county is a firm favourite amongst nature lovers, families and couples alike, with plenty of beautiful spots to pitch up your vehicle.

Penzance is home to St Michael’s Mount, one of the most instantly recognisable locations in Cornwall – a short distance off the coast, the island is crowned with a 12th century castle and church, and can be reached by boat or a brisk walk along the causeway at low tide.

The town is packed with restaurants, pubs and shops where you can enjoy a fantastic seafood dinner or take a relaxing evening stroll. Just north of Penzance is Stream Valley Holiday Park, a peaceful and secluded campsite where you can park your motorhome and enjoy an easy walk into town.

4. Slapton Sands, Devon

You’d be hard pressed to find a more picturesque beach than South Devon’s own Slapton Sands. There’s plenty of room to set down your towel and soak up the sun, but the major attraction here is the wide array of water sports on offer. Whether you want to try your hand at surfing, windsurfing or canoeing, there are plenty of instructors and lifeguards on hand.

There’s a variety of campsites in Devon that you can use as a base whilst you’re exploring the countryside, but the Start Bay site is just a quarter of a mile drive away from Slapton Sands. The serenity of the campsite makes it the perfect spot for a relaxing day, whilst still being within touching distance of the sea. Anglers, water sports enthusiasts and sailors will find plenty to keep them occupied in the surrounding area.

5. Isle of Skye, Scotland

As the largest island within the Inner Hebrides, the Isle of Skye is home to some of Scotland’s most spectacular landscapes. It’s one of the best places to take your motorhome on a summer tour, drinking in the atmosphere of this stunning island and experiencing the sights first-hand.

If you’re searching for a warm and welcoming base after a long day of exploration, Kinloch Campsite should be high on your list. Perfectly situated for visitors to take in the natural, secluded beauty of Loch Dunvegan, Kinloch has everything you need for a relaxing getaway.
